Le 27. Juin 1941.

My dear Sonja, I have been caught in a spell of silence. I could not write my beautiful but I have been thinking of you night and day. I know it has been hard for you not to get a word from me. I have so much to say I wish we could be together even for one hour to talk our hearts out. I know you too have much to tell me. Last visit you told me you were feeling broken down. I realise that this long strain has not been easy for you my beloved. I do not know when it will end all this. I shall write more regularly now because I feel over my moodiness I know Sonja we are in the prime of our lives and our relation has been upset by conditions of life today but we are children of our fathers and their sins are visited upon |us| with a vengeance I am not a fatalist we are responsible for our sort humanity in mass. Oh Sonja aside all this I long to hug you in my arms and caress your tired head heaps of love from Ernest.
